On Tuesday 16th May, the highly anticipated winners of The Business Book Awards 2023 in partnership with Pathway Group were revealed in London, next Wembley’s iconic stadium at The Drum Wembley.
Founded in 2017, The Business Book Awards celebrate the quality and variety of business books published each year and offer industry-wide recognition to authors writing on a range of subjects relevant to business, entrepreneurship, self-development & thought-leadership.
This year’s shortlist comprised of 109 books over 14 categories, whittled down from 300 entries authored by business leaders across the globe by a panel of 42 of the UK’s top business experts, academics, and entrepreneurs.
On the night, Helen Beedham was revealed as winner of the People, Culture & Management Book 2023 award for her book, The Future of Time: how ‘re-working’ time can help you boost productivity, diversity and wellbeing.
Aimed at business, HR and DEI leaders, The Future of Time (published by Practical Inspiration Publishing) describes how rethinking the way organisations value and manage working time can help them address the most pressing issues of today’s workplace: rocketing stress and burnout; difficulty attracting and retaining diverse talent; and stalled productivity. Helen was compelled to write book because she observed how for decades, we’ve viewed time management at work purely as a tool to ‘fix’ the individual whilst ignoring the way our teams and organisations chronically undervalue time at work, with damaging consequences to employees and the bottom line. Helen sets out how instead we can fix the system: by cultivating our collective ‘time intelligence’ we can create more sustainable organisations and ways of working that will allow all kinds of talent to flourish. Employers will reap the benefits in terms of attracting and retaining skilled employees, better creativity and decision-making and improved business performance.
The judges commented ‘In an age where time is at a premium, The Future of Time delivers a very important message. It contains practical and accessible ideas with thought-provoking takeaways. It is essential reading for anyone who finds there just aren't enough hours in the day’.
Helen said, ‘I’m thrilled to win this award and hope this encourages greater debate, experimentation and collective determination to change the way we work for the better’.
Alison Jones, founder and director of Practical Inspiration Publishing added ‘We at Practical Inspiration Publishing are delighted that The Future of Time has been recognized with this prestigious award. The People, Culture and Management category is one of the most hotly contested, and Helen’s win is a testament to the clarity, originality and significance of her writing. We believe The Future of Time is required reading for every leader seeking to create a more inclusive, productive and attractive workplace!’
