In our post-pandemic world of work, access to flexible working has moved from being a ‘nice to have’ to a ‘must have’. According to Gallup research, 45% of candidates say they’d decline a job offer without working pattern flexibility and 79% of existing employees say flexible scheduling enhances their loyalty. Employers have largely accepted that if they don’t offer flexibility, they won’t secure the people and the skills they need.

But despite this, not everyone gets to enjoy the flexibility they want and need. Some groups of employees remain at a disadvantage and there’s often a gap between the employers’ policy and what actually happens in practice.

Joining me to share her insights is Claire Campbell, Chief Executive of the award-winning social enterprise Timewise who work with the UK’s leading employers, industry bodies and policy makers to undertake research, campaigns and innovative programmes that drive positive change. Claire was previously a Governmental HR Director where she led on resourcing and talent, and also Director of HR Research and Consulting at the Institute for Employment Studies. She is passionate about using job design to create fairer, healthier and more flexible organisations.
