About this episode
When you run a global business that’s active in many different countries and markets, a big challenge is how to create a really strong organisation culture which holds people together through a shared sense of purpose and a common set of values. How do you figure out what should be consistent globally vs what people are free to decide locally? How do you get agreement to this across the board and bring people with you? How do you make the new culture feel inclusive and fair for everyone?
Joining me to discuss all of this is Kisha Payton, Chief DEI Officer and Global Head of Culture at Escalent, a leading data analytics and advisory firm that works with some of the world’s biggest brands. Kisha has a business background with extensive experience in market research, strategic marketing and storytelling to help clients connect better with their customers, understand and fulfil their needs. She also has a law degree and worked with non-profit organisations too. I find out how she brings this expertise into her DEI/Culture leadership role to create positive culture change at scale.
I don't want people to feel like the culture is this distant thing. You need to be able to feel the culture and articulate it without anybody telling you what it is.
Have those really simple things that people remember. When people start to own those things for themselves and then start creating it on their own, that's the real way that the culture spreads.
So our DEI theme is ‘who's missing? Who’s missing in the room? In the conversation? In this research. In our company plan? In this task force? In this event? Are we hearing enough voices?
